Unique wheel-thrown and hand-built raku pottery created by Tanya Tyree. This decorative pottery has the appearance of metal, but it’s the raku firing process that gives it this mystical surface.
For over thirty years I have pursued a love affair with the finest hardwoods in the world. Years ago I discovered the secret of these densest and most beautiful of the world's woods: by persevering long past the point when most other woodworkers would consider a piece completed, I come to a magic moment when the wood seems to melt and flow as the liquid curves run together into a seamless delight.

I am primarily a self-taught artist. I started re-creating the world around me as soon as I could hold a crayon or play with clay, shapes and colors. I love the natural world —and the supernatural world for that matter. As a child I enjoyed the rhythms of nature and sought out peak experiences in the pure joy of the sky, earth, trees and animals.
Drying flowers is a way to preserve Nature’s beauty and allows you to enjoy them in a wide variety of creations – arrangements in various containers, topiaries, wreaths, wall baskets and nosegays. With proper care, they last much longer than fresh flowers that in- variably have to be discarded after a few days.
When I was a child, I was always creating; never happy unless my hands were dirty…….glue, paint……mud. I came to love clay again after spending many years as a florist.
Every once in a while, being required to learn a certain skill can lead to a life-long dedication. That happened to me when I was eleven years old, living in England, and took my first course in sewing. Because I seemed to have a natural aptitude for it, I took other needlework courses during my high school years, and have had a passion for sewing and a real enthusiasm for buying good fabrics ever since.
I have always loved nature and the feelings it evokes in me. To me a walk in the woods is a healing experience, a time to feel whole. Growing plants is a way to feel connected to the earth, to life. It is this love of nature that first inspired my "Intrinsic Natural Art.”

I fell in love with weaving while attending V.C.U. in Richmond, Virginia, where I received a BFA in Crafts in 1970. I enjoy weaving as much today as I did when I first picked up a shuttle. Weaving remains fascinating to me because it offers interesting technical challenges and unlimited creative potential. Even though my work isn't traditional I enjoy the connection I feel to the “tradition” of handweaving.
In my bird portraits I strive to depict the key distinguishing features for each species, yet capture the personality of each individual bird. Each painting is original and unique like the bird being painted. With these portraits I hope to remind you that the birds can bring a message for you if you just take the time to watch and listen.

Although my work in glass and copper spans many genres of art from traditional to modern, nature is a recurrent theme. It gives me immense pleasure to be able to create beauty for others to enjoy.
Fused glass captured my enthusiasm the first time I ever saw it. I simply loved its shimmering, changing colors; its cool, hard texture; its intense beauty. Now those feelings are mingled with excitement at seeing the changes the glass undergoes after I've cut it, shaped it, subjected it to temperatures as high as 1,460 degrees for hours on end.
What emerges when you gaze into your mirror? When pausing to see our own reflection, dare we ask which is the real image? Haven’t we all to one degree or another mastered the art of mask- making with our own features and expressions— so much so that when we witness mask art made reality, we are roused, stunned, awed to find our own fleeting masks captured? Imagine our own features with expression, captured in art! Such is the fascination of the mask art . . . the Mask Muse.
