The Mettle of the Metal Artist Metal jewelry artist Jayme Driver will be C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery’s featured artist during the month of February. The artist will be at the gallery on February 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the Historic Downtown Mall’s First Friday event. Driver’s jewelry, fashioned from sterling silver, copper, brass and rusted steel, retains an understated finish that captures the innate quality of the element. Each piece is created to exemplify nature’s attributes through a variation of textures and treated surfaces.  There is a captivating edginess to her work that clearly demonstrates Driver’s respect for her medium. The union of metals lets each piece achieve its own destiny without being forced to conform to a predetermined strategy by the artist.  “Jayme’s work adds an exciting dimension to the gallery’s extensive collection of jewelry,” said Amy Melville, administrator of C’ville Arts Cooperative Gallery. “There’s a sense of harmony and balance in her art that lets the spirit of the metals emerge.”  |
